Stretch yourself. If you paint in oil, try watercolour or acrylic. If you write prose, try poetry. If you garden outdoors, try planting some bulbs indoors. If you build furniture, try building a playhouse. When we challenge ourselves to something new, we expand our thinking. I am an oil painter, but I recently attended a watercolor workshop. The paintings I created at the workshop were not very good. I let them sit for a few days, and then when I looked at them, I realized that what I had learned about drawing in the workshop could also be applied to my oil painting. I transferred the two drawings to canvases and painted them again in oil using the techniques I'd learned in the workshop. I am pleased with the outcomes. If we don't try something new, we get stuck.
